Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
God chose you. It’s a comforting thought, isn’t it? You aren’t an accident. Life is not fate. And your faith in Christ is not mere coincidence. The best and worst moments of your life are equally part of God’s plan. He chose you to experience these things. Your life experiences are unlike anyone else’s experiences. You have the exact qualifications for your role in God’s story. When trouble comes, consider it on the job training!
God’s plan wasn’t thrown together as things came up. No, God chose you before he made the world. That’s mind-boggling.
I don’t want to give anyone the wrong idea though. God chose everyone, but some people reject God. Their rejection doesn’t mean God didn’t choose them. It means God chose them and they said, “no.”
God chose you for salvation so he could have a relationship with you. He also chose you for a unique role in his story on earth. No one else can fulfill your role because you are unique. No one can express God like you can. We, as Christians, are Christ in the flesh.
Christ is in you and you are in Christ. Union. Two made one. No wonder the Bible uses so many marriage metaphors.
You are in Christ. When God looks at you, he doesn’t see your sinful self because you are hidden in Christ. He sees his perfect Son when he looks at you because you are clothed with Christ, “holy and without fault in his eyes.”
In addition, Christ is in you. With Christ living in us, we can allow him to live through us, expressing his love and grace to others. You are an incarnation of Christ, God in the flesh, because Christ lives through you. Your hands are his hands, touching lives, serving people, and lifting others up in Christ. That’s a high and holy calling.
Lord, I’m amazed that I am in Christ and covered by Christ so when you look at me, you see Christ. I am astonished to realize I am an incarnation of Christ on earth. You want to live through me to touch people’s lives. These wonderful truths challenge my thinking and elevate my understanding of my relationship with you. Thank you for choosing me.
