Epic Jesus: The Christ You Never Knew

26 pages

Available from Amazon for Kindle.

I read the Kindle edition.

I have a seminary education, but I found Frank Viola’s brief summary of Christ to be powerful and moving. Epic Jesus inspired me to want to take time looking up the many verses he overviews in the text.

From beginning to end, from Alpha and Omega, from Eden to Heaven, Frank Viola describes the role of Christ in history, time, and our personal lives. He makes huge, mind-blowing concepts easy to understand (to the extent humanly possible) and he does so in a comfortable narrative style.

Epic Jesus is actually a cleaned-up transcription of a speech he gave, which contributes to the conversational tone. It reads as comfortably as the spoken word. The audio version of his presentation is available at He also has an online course called Living by the Indwelling Life of Christ which goes deeper into the content of this message in a practical way (I have not yet checked out the course, however).

For a taste of what you’re in for, let’s take a look at a brief example:

So what does God look like?

Watch Him at a wedding in Cana. According to the custom of the day, the bridegroom was responsible for supplying the food and wine. Well, the wine ran out. This was a social disgrace—an epic oversight on the part of the bridegroom.

Behold your Lord’s first miracle.

He turns water into wine. But it’s no ordinary wine. He creates a wine that’s better than the wine that ran out. So in one brilliant stroke of compassion, Jesus Christ removes the bridegroom’s shame. He removes the disgrace. He reverses the failure. And he makes the bridegroom end up looking like a hero, because the wine He made from water was better than the original batch.

What a Christ!

He’s in the business of removing your shame.

–Frank Viola, Epic Jesus, excerpt from The Greatness of Christ.

Don’t be fooled by the brevity of the content, for it is deeper than you might imagine. Never confuse quantity with quality. This is a must-read for any Christian at a price you can afford. He’s made the ebook available for available for $.99 so pick it up now before you forget.

Epic Jesus is so well-written that there’s just one thing left to say: Well said, brother Frank!
