We have depended on God’s grace, not on our own human wisdom. That is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you.
2 Corinthians 1:12b
Our culture values rational thinking. From childhood education through adulthood, we learn to “be rational.” Rationalism is an idol, a substitute for God. Rather than relying on our own human wisdom to guide our lives, we can depend on God’s grace to guide us.
Perhaps you only understand grace in terms of salvation, but God’s grace is so much more. God’s grace gives us a supportive, forgiving environment to learn to follow God. Of course, we’ll mess up! But God lavishes His love and grace on us and gives us strength to carry on. Our behavior in this world may not be perfect, but God is supportive rather than condemning.
