Prayer: Surrendering My Words to God

Lord,

I often say things that are unintentionally insensitive or deliberately hurtful. I’m tired of the wake of disaster and destroyed relationships. I’m tired of being blocked, banned, and battle-worn. I know it dishonors you when I do not show love in my words and attitudes.

I surrender my words to you. Guard my tongue from careless words (Psalm 141:3). Let your Holy Spirit speak through me (2 Samuel 23:2) because I know you will only speak faith, hope, and love (1 Corinthians 13:13) to others. I will open my mouth and allow you to fill it with good things (Psalm 81:10). Make my words a life-giving fountain (Proverbs 10:11) for the tongue can bring death or life (Proverbs 18:21). May my words acceptable in your sight (Psalm 19:14).

Make it so.
