Do you or someone you know suffer from anxiety? It can be debilitating. Everyone suffers from a little anxiety at times. For instance, the fear of public speaking is cause for anxiety to many people. But anxiety can become wider in scope, encompassing all aspects of life, or it can be triggered by certain events, as in PTSD. Whatever form anxiety may take, help is available. I believe mental health issues need to be treated in a holistic manner. There are medications available for anxiety, which can settle you down and make you feel better in the moment. John Strange put together a brief summary of biblical teachings on anxiety. He offers a dozen principles for overcoming fear, worry, and anxiety, such as “Welcome the Lord’s Protection and Guidance” and “Don’t Dwell on Tomorrow’s Troubles.” He offers reassuring words for troubled hearts, provides thought-provoking insights, and proposes solutions that are easy to put into practice. For the most benefit, I’d recommend taking time to do some journaling on each of his twelve teaching points about anxiety.
