Living in the Light of Eternity by K.P. Yohannan

Living in the Light of Eternity challenges us to look beyond the temporary to the eternal; to look away from ourselves to the needs of others; and to look at our present circumstances in light of the bigger picture—the eternal picture. But it doesn’t aim to create a guilt trip about how we’re living compared to the rest of the world who needs Christ. Instead, it highlights a number of biblical principles that can serve as a foundation for coming to our own conclusions about what God is calling us to do individually. There isn’t a one-size fits all answer, but there are some baselines for us to begin as we learn to seek God’s will for our lives. This is an easy, enjoyable read. In fact, I’ve read it twice now. Let me share this brief excerpt that I found particularly challenging for where I’m at spiritually:   God wants us, in our life and ministry for Him, to stand on emptiness. What...

Living by Faith, Not by Sight by KP Yohannan

Living by Faith, Not by Sight K.P. Yohannan 2014 51 pages   K.P. Yohannan never disappoints and this short book was bulging at the seams with Bible verses about faith. But it was more than a litany of Scripture. The author dug in to organize the Bible’s thoughts and explain the depth of meaning for our lives. The stand-out “a-ha” moment for me was his explanation of Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (KJV). How could faith be substance? Yohannan explains, “Faith is so real it is called substance. Substance is the material of which something is made, the building blocks of it. Your faith is the substance, the building blocks of God’s promises!” He goes on to explain the Greek work for substance, hupostasis, and how it is used in other instances in the Bible. This is a well-thought, well-documented book that is not mere...

Destined to Soar K.P. Yohannan 2014 168 pages   K.P. Yohannan masterfully lifts us up to a higher place where we can gain a new perspective on our troubles and how they fit into God’s plan. He doesn’t offer trite advice that minimizes our trials. Rather, he acknowledges that we will face all kinds of difficulties and yet he shows us how to navigate our difficulties with trust in God that overflows in joy and peace in the midst of trials. Destined to Soar could be used as a devotional book, with 37 short chapters on topics regarding humility, joy, obedience, unity, service, identity, grace, love, peace, and more. The author is a master storyteller and has a grip on Scripture that comes from living it out for many decades. This makes his writing powerful and effective in touching the reader at a point of need and offering healing and perspective. It’s always a joy to read books by K.P....

The Beauty of Christ through Brokenness by KP Yohannan

The Beauty of Christ through Brokenness K.P. Yohannan 2014 72 pages   The Beauty of Christ through Brokenness by K.P. Yohannan gave me a huge “aha” revelation about the meaning of brokenness. I had always understood brokenness in terms of imperfection, like a cracked pot that was no longer useful until God’s grace filled the gaps to make us useful to Him. Yohannan writes, “By nature we all are the opposite of the one whom He esteems. We are all unbroken. We are as solid as the hardest substance you can find—unbending, self-centered, self-ambitious and never wanting to give in.” This is the starting point from which the author leads the reader downward to a place of submission. I found the following description beautifully moving. In Matthew 11:29-30, we read one of the most beautiful Scripture portions ever recorded. It is the invitation of Christ—“Take My yoke upon you and learn from...

The Road to Reality Coming Home to Jesus from the Unreal World K.P. Yohannan 2012 213 pages   In The Road to Reality, K.P. Yohannan suggests we have been living under the fantasy and illusion of counterfeit Christianity and he gives us a wake-up call to bring us back to reality. “The bridges to reality in our spiritual pilgrimage may seem a bit unfamiliar. The road is strange to us. The disciplies of spiritual reality are “lost arts” to most modern Christians. . . . May I challenge you to come along and begin a journey on the road to reality?” –K.P. Yohannan, The Road to Reality   The disciplines of spiritual reality include holiness, suffering, sacrifice, spiritual intimacy, stewardship, simplicity, spiritual warfare, submission, obedience, and more. The Road to Reality has been in print for more than two decades. It has earned a place among Christian classics. I’ve read it...
